Books and Biscuits Book Club - October
The Eastgardens Library book club "Books and Biscuits" will be meeting on Friday, October 21st at 10:15am to discuss books by author Anne Tyler. Books will be available to borrow on the reserve shelf.

School Holiday Activities - Term 3 2011
Botany Bay Library is very proud to invite Paul Cummings who is one of the Sydney Children’s Magician with magic shows for all ages to visit our library in this School Holidays.
His professional technique will make your young children to get much fun in Puppet and Magic Show.
If you have children and the age is five and over, they can participate our educational program of “Wacky Water Works” show. It presents a fun filled magic show that appeals to the child/ren aged 5 and over. Throughout the performance interesting facts about water are presented through magic in a fast moving pacey manner. An enjoyable, educational, entertaining performance will captivate the participants.

Children's Book Week 2011 - August 20 to 26
This year's Children's Book Week will be held from August 20 - 26 and the theme for this year is "One World, Many Stories". Botany Bay Library will have a "Children's Writing Competition" and is encouraging you to participate in this contest.
The competition will be divided into four age group categories - "5-7 years", "8-10 years", "11-13 years" and "14-17 years". A winner from each age group will be selected. The winners will receive a $20 gift card from Dymocks and a $20 gift card from JB Hi-Fi. Entries close on September 2, 2011 at 5:00pm. Don't miss your chance to win a prize!
Writing Format: Descriptive Writing
Theme: One world, many stories
Length:
5-7 years - Min. 150 words or over
8-10 years - Min 300 words or over
11-13 years - Min. 450 words or over
14-17 years - Min. 600 words or over

Tax Help Program
With the help of Australian Taxation Office, the City of Botany Library Service is starting a Tax Help program. Anyone whose tax affairs are simple and who makes less than $50,000 a year can make an appointment with our volunteers. One of our volunteers is also able to speak Mandarin and Cantonese. This service is run for free.
