Introduction to Tai Chi Workshop - Saturday August 7 2010

On Saturday August 7, Mascot Library will be hosting a Tai Chi workshop presented by Master Kam Fung.  The following topics will be presented

- What is Tai Chi
- The Philosophy of Tai Chi
- Tai Chi and its Health Benefits - Body, Mind & Spirit
- Qi gong, Acupuncture points & Meridians
- Demonstration of Tai Chi Fan and a Yang form
- Tai Chi is for everyone
- In Cantonese & English

Loud Shirt Day - Friday May 14

Loud Shirt Day is a great way to throw off the usual dress code in our library and get LOUD for one day a year.  Participants drag out their craziest shirts, socks, scarves or any other LOUD fashion statements.  Everyone who participates makes a donation (anything over $2 is fully tax deductible) and all money raised will help deaf children throughout Australia learn to listen and speak.

Your participation in Loud shirt Day will raise vitally needed funds to help deaf children across Australia reach their listening, language and speech milestones.  This will allow them to attned their local sc hool with their hearing siblings and peers, contribute to their community and reach their full potential within the hearing world.

The City of Botany Bay Library Service is participating in Loud Shirt Day again.  The library staff will provide tea, coffee and cakes and collect donations.  Please come in to Eastgardens library, wear a loud shirt and make a donation for deaf children.

Senior's Week - Movies in the Library

Seniors Week this year is from 21st – 28th March. The library will celebrate Seniors Week with ‘Movies in the Library’. Those residents who have previously attended will know that the attendees get to choose the movie they wish to watch from a selection of movie titles with general appeal.

There will be two sessions on Thursday 25th March. The morning session will commence at 10:30am and the afternoon session at 1:30pm. Tea and coffee will be provided. You may wish to bring your lunch and stay for both sessions.

The meeting room at the Eastgardens library will be the temporary movie theatre so come and relax in our comfortable chairs and enjoy the entertainment.

Meet Doctor Thomas Chiu

City of Botany Bay Library is organising the visit of Dr. Thomas Chiu. Dr. Chiu recently published the book called “Can Australia say no to China?”. He is also an author of many articles published in the Sing Tao newspaper.
