Christmas Baubles

Do you want to make your own Christmas Baubles for decorating your Christmas Trees?  Now you have an opportunity to use different techniques to create a range of effects. Please make a booking and come along our library at Eastgardens.

Age from 6 and over, booking is essential as places are limited.
Entry fee: $3.00 per child per session (Entry fee is non-refundable)
Bookings need to be made in person to Candy on 9366 3888.

“Backyard Bugs” Show

Rangers on the Run are invited to our library on Friday, October 1, 2010. Rangers on the Run provides Environmental Education Programs that are specifically designed to teach young audiences about bugs and the wonders of nature in a fun and entertaining way.

Backyard Bugs is a show which focuses on the world of mini beasts. Three groups of bugs are investigated during the show – Myriapods, Insects and Arachnids. The show is designed to meet the learning outcomes for HSIE and Science & Technology in the NSW Curriculum.

The show is totally interactive and allows children to hold and touch many different bugs in a safe and exciting way. So get ready for a lot of laughing and screaming!

Age from 4 and over, booking is essential as places are limited.
Entry fee: $3.00 per child  (Entry fee is non-refundable), 1 parent per family (if desired)
Bookings need to be made in person to Candy on 9366 3888.

Rewind and Win! - Photo Competition

Do you have any 'historic' photgraphs taken in the City of Botany Bay?  If you do, come enter our Rewind Pause Play competition.

To celebrate the George Hanna Memorial Museum's current exhibition, the museum is offering you the chance to win a:

Canon Powershot A490 Digital Camera for best 'historic' landscape/streetscape photograph

or

Kodak Easy Share Photo Frame for best 'historic' people photograph

Entries will be judged on their ability to remind us of the district's past and its people.  Entry forms are available from the George Hanna Memorial Museum in Mascot Library, 2 Hatfield St, Mascot.

Eastgardens Library Term 2 School Holiday Activties Program

Children’s Book Week Reading Competition

2010 Children’s Book Week will start between 21 – 27 August 2010. The theme in 2010 is “Cross the story bridge”.

Our libraries have set up a reading competition to support this program. This program is free. Children have no limit to read their favourite books in certain period. It is for children and young adults aged from 3 years to 17 years. There will have 3 age groups, 3-7 years, 8-12 years and 13-17 years. Each group will have a final winner. $15.00 book voucher will be issued to the winners.

How to entry this competition? It is very simple.
  1. You come along our libraries and pick up the entry form at Eastgardens Central library or Mascot branch on August 3, 2010. 
  2. Fill in all information on the form and start to borrow the books.
  3. Reading begins on August 3, 2010 and ends on August 27, 2010. All entries must be returned to Eastgardens Central Library by August 30, 2010 at 5:00 pm.
  4. More books you read, more chances you will win.

You have NO LIMIT to read the books. Don’t miss it.

No entry form will be accepted after August 30, 2010.

    Ride the HSC Wave 2010

    Bookings for the the 2010 Ride the HSC Wave lecture program jointly run by the Waverley Library, Woollahra Library, Randwick Library and the City of Botany Bay Library are now open.

    Leading experts, university lecturers, secondary school teachers and senior exam markers will provide information and study tips for key subjects and topics, and students will have the chance to participate in group discussions and ask questions.
