The summer holidays are coming up and Botany Bay Library has some exiciting activities lined up.
Under the Sea is a show which focuses on the incredible animals who call the sea their home. The show includes live sea animals, specimen samples, and a variety of marine artefacts and shells. We investigate marine habitats, animal adaptations and learn how to reduce our impact on the marine environment.
The show provides a wonderful introduction to the marine world. Children will have the opportunity to hold and touch many different sea animals.

Audaciousville: the story of Dacey Garden Suburb
As you may already know, Daceyville's rich past is the theme of our 2010 History Week celebrations. This month sees the opening of a comprehensive exhibition about the suburb at the George Hanna Memorial Museum.
In the exhibition you will travel to all corners of the suburb's past, from the dust bowl it once was, to its pioneering role in Sydney's use of town planning. You will see the lives of families who have called it home and learned how the suburb was nearly destroyed in the 1970s.
In keeping with History Week's theme "Faces in the Street" you will also learn about the men who the suburb's streets are named after. The story of the Colenso family, of whom Colenso Crescent is called after, is one very local story. To learn more, pop down the George Hanna memorial Museum, 2 Hatfield Street, Mascot. Exhibition runs from 7th September 2010 - 26th February 2011.
